Intra parliaments Meet
The training programme for the Vellore Children Parliament was held on 16th and 17th of August 2014 in Sacred Heart Home, Katpadi. About 60 Children participated in the training programme. Auxilium ARUWYE networked with NCN (Neighborhood community Network) and organized the programme. 7 different parliament groups were accommodated in the training programme. On the first day, the children visited WORTH TRUST in Vellore. WORTH TRUST runs the school for differently-abled and special people. They have class rooms from LKG to 5TH Standard, other children studying in higher classes are sent to normal school. The NCP children spent 2 and half hours to understand and interact with those children.
The children were divided into two groups, according to their talent and wish. One group went to learn drawing and another group for Essay writing. Mr. Siva Sangaran, the member in state youth parliament was the resource person for drawing. Mr. Suriya Chandran the journalist was the resource person for the Essay writing. The children shared their experience about their home visit. The resource persons asked the children to explore the problems faced by the differently-abled children through their drawings and essay writing.
The resource person Mr. Suriya Chandran trained the children in writing petition and record maintenance. The children had written one petition individually, and they learned to maintain attendance register, Minutes book, Account Books, letter heads, files for plans, files containing important documents, photo album etc. In the afternoon the children were asked to sit in their Children Parliaments in order to train them in conducting the Children Parliament. The meeting concluded with the sharing of their learning from these two days.
