My name is Savithri and I am 34 years old. I completed my 12th standard in 2009. After completing my education, I got married and devoted my time to caring for my family and children. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, I worked for a few years but later had to pause my career once again due to personal responsibilities.
Over time, I began to feel that it might be too late to restart my career. However, everything changed when I joined the Career Connect course. The programme renewed my hope and helped me realise that it is never too late to rebuild my career and move forward with confidence.
Through the course sessions, I was introduced to Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills which are increasingly relevant in today’s job market. Previously, I had very little awareness of such opportunities. For the first time, I participated in an industrial visit and market-scanning activities. These experiences broadened my perspective and exposed me to various career opportunities. They also helped me gain a better understanding of current industry expectations and employment trends.
I am especially grateful to our facilitator, Jyothi Ma’am, whose encouragement and motivating approach continuously inspired us to step out of our comfort zones, explore new opportunities and believe in our abilities.
Earlier, my daily routine revolved entirely around caring for my children and managing household responsibilities. Through this journey, I have gained the confidence to recognise my own aspirations, identify my field of interest and take meaningful steps towards achieving my career goals.
Today, I am happily employed in the Accounts Department at Vasuki Timber Merchant. I feel proud and fulfilled to have restarted my career with renewed confidence, determination and a positive outlook towards the future.
Savithri’s journey demonstrates that age and family responsibilities need not be barriers to career growth. With the right guidance, encouragement and opportunities, women can rediscover their potential, regain their confidence and build a brighter future.
