My name is Bakya, and I am 22 years old. I have completed my Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA). After graduating, I stayed at home for some time without taking up a job, as I was uncertain about my career path and lacked the confidence to move forward.
During this period, I joined the Career Connect course at the ARUWYE. Initially, I was quiet, hesitant and reluctant to participate in group activities. Shortly after joining the course, I received a job offer from an accounting firm and decided to leave the course to take up the opportunity. However, within two days, I realised that I was struggling to cope with the work pressure and found the experience overwhelming. Consequently, I decided to leave the job.
Three days later, I made the decision to rejoin the ARUWYE, determined to improve myself and build a better future. Through goal-setting and aspiration-mapping sessions, I gained a clearer understanding of my strengths, weaknesses, and career aspirations. With continuous encouragement and guidance from the facilitators, I gradually began to overcome my fears and self-doubt.
Actively participating in classroom activities helped me build confidence and strengthen my communication skills. I gradually transformed from a quiet and reserved individual into an active, expressive, and confident learner.
With the encouragement and referral support of my facilitators, I attended an interview at Apollo Pharmacy and was successfully selected for the position. Initially, my parents were hesitant and reluctant to allow me to take up the job. However, through persistent efforts, dedication, and appropriate counselling, I was able to gain their support and convince them to let me pursue this opportunity.
Today, I am happily employed and proud of how far I have come. My journey through the Career Connect course has brought about a remarkable transformation in my life. I have grown from a shy and uncertain individual into a confident and determined young woman with improved communication skills, greater self-belief, and a clearer vision for my future.
