My name is Parimalam, and I am 54 years old. My life has been full of challenges, but with the support of ARUWYE, I was able to build a better future for myself and my family.
Before joining ARUWYE, I worked as a housekeeper. Though I was grateful for the job, my income was not enough to support my family. Life was difficult, and I struggled to make ends meet.
Nineteen years ago, I heard about ARUWYE’s Self-Help Group (SHG) and their vocational training programs. I was especially interested in learning tailoring, but I was worried about the cost. Fortunately, ARUWYE’s training was affordable, allowing me to join without financial stress. The classes were practical and easy to follow, making it possible for me to learn a valuable skill.
With the knowledge I gained, I started my own home-based tailoring business. At first, I took small orders from neighbors and friends, but over time, my business grew. Tailoring gave me financial independence and the confidence to support my family.
ARUWYE was also there for me during difficult times. When floods hit our area, they provided relief and support to help us recover. This showed me that ARUWYE is not just about training—it is about caring for the community and standing by people when they need help the most.
Today, I am grateful for ARUWYE and the opportunities it has given me. Thanks to their support, I have a stable income and a better life. I hope my story be an inspiration for other women to take the first step towards independence, just as I did.
