On 5th February 2026 An Anti-Human Trafficking (AHT) Awareness Programme was successfully conducted at St. Antony Girls Higher Secondary School, Santhome with the aim of educating students about human trafficking, cyber safety, and the dangers of excessive social media use. The programme received strong support and encouragement from the Principal Sister and the teaching staff, whose cooperation greatly contributed to the smooth and effective conduct of the programme. Our volunteers presented an expressive mime performance that clearly depicted the realities of human trafficking and showed how social media addiction and unsafe online interactions can lead to trafficking through fake profiles, online grooming, false friendships, job offers, and emotional manipulation. After the mime, the staff explained how uncontrolled use of social media reduces alertness and increases vulnerability among young girls. Students were guided on safe online practices such as protecting personal information, avoiding unknown contacts, and reporting suspicious online activities. Important emergency and helpline numbers were explained, including 112 (All-India Emergency Number), 1091 (Women Helpline), 181 (Women Safety Helpline – Tamil Nadu), 1098 (CHILDLINE), and 100 (Police Emergency). Awareness was also given about official crime reporting and support websites, including the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (www.cybercrime.gov.in), the National Commission for Women (www.ncw.nic.in), and the Tamil Nadu Police website (www.tnpolice.gov.in) for lodging complaints and seeking help. An interactive question-and-answer session was conducted in which students actively participated, shared their feelings, and confidently recalled the helpline numbers and websites. The programme created strong awareness, promoted responsible social media use, and empowered students with the knowledge and confidence to protect themselves from human trafficking and related cyber crimes.
