ARUWYE commemorated World Environment Day 2026 with a series of impactful programmes that engaged children, youth and women in environmental awareness and sustainable action. At the Evening Study Centers, children celebrated the theme “One Earth, One Future” through sessions on waste segregation, composting, water conservation, energy saving, plastic reduction and tree plantation. These activities encouraged them to adopt eco-friendly habits and become responsible environmental stewards within their families and communities. Simultaneously, women from East Namachevayapuram participated in a special programme at Nungambakkam Railway Station Park, Chennai, where they planted trees and distributed saplings to the public, raising awareness about environmental protection, cleanliness and the preservation of natural resources.
Quest Youth learners at the ARUWYE Career Connect Centre marked the occasion through interactive discussions, creative activities, and a debate on “Economic Development vs Environment Protection,” which encouraged critical thinking on sustainable development. The “Voices of Nature” activity enabled participants to creatively express environmental concerns from nature’s perspective, fostering empathy and responsibility towards the environment. Discussions on Green Future Initiatives inspired youth to promote sustainable lifestyles through water conservation, waste management, reduced plastic use, and tree planting. Collectively, the celebrations strengthened environmental awareness, community participation and a shared commitment among children, youth, and women to contribute towards a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future.
