On 17 October 2026, ARUWYE’s Women and Children Sectors organised an awareness programme on the International Day of Non-Violence and Mental Health Awareness for Evening Study Centre teachers from Chennai District at the Animation Room, ARUWYE Centre. Approximately 30 participants attended the programme, which aimed to strengthen their understanding of non-violence, emotional well-being, and the importance of creating safe and supportive environments for women and children. Mr. Kamesh and Ms. Selvi, Government Community Organiser, facilitated the session on non-violence, highlighting mutual respect, peaceful communication, gender sensitivity, and constructive conflict resolution to prevent violence and promote harmonious relationships. Ms. Nivesha C. led the mental health awareness session, focusing on emotional well-being, stress management, recognising emotional challenges, building supportive relationships, and seeking professional help when necessary. The sessions encouraged participants to identify different forms of violence, respond to emotional distress with empathy, and promote mental health awareness within their communities. The programme strengthened participants’ knowledge and encouraged them to apply these learnings in their personal lives and professional roles, contributing to a culture of peace, respect, emotional resilience, and safety for women and children.
