Women’s Day Celebrated with Vibrance at ARUWYE, Kodambakkam
On 17th March 2026, International Women’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at ARUWYE, Kodambakkam, under the inspiring theme “Unleash the Hidden Potential of Women.”
The event was graced by Rev. Sr. D.J. Margaret, President of ARUWYE, as the Chief Guest. The Special Guests included Sr. Christina, Executive Member of ARUWYE; Dr Sasikala, Physiotherapist, Greater Chennai Corporation, Zone 6; and Sr. Mary Josephine Isabella, Director of ARUWYE, along with other ARUWYE Governing Body members who were present on the occasion.
The programme saw active participation from staff members, interns from SRM University and Stella Maris College and various women’s groups, making it a vibrant and meaningful gathering. The celebration commenced with lively cultural performances by the women’s groups, showcasing their talents and creativity. A key highlight of the event was the recognition of the United Nations’ theme for the year, which emphasized the importance of acknowledging women farmers. In line with this, four women achievers from different sectors were honoured with medals and shawls in recognition of their outstanding contributions.
The distinguished guests delivered powerful and inspiring messages, encouraging women to embrace confidence, independence and leadership in all spheres of life. Another significant moment of the programme was the release of the “Women Success Stories” book, which added great value to the celebration.The event witnessed the participation of around 150 women, reflecting unity, empowerment, and collective strength. The celebration stood as a testament to the spirit of womanhood and the importance of nurturing and unleashing the immense potential within every woman.
